Looking for dental friendly halloween treats? This year try nutritious snacks, sugar free or xylitol gum and lollipops, or non food items such as stickers. If you choose to hand out candy on Halloween, try chocolate candy that tends to melt in the mouth and not stick to teeth. For example, Milky Way Bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and Peppermint Patties are easy to chew and do not stay in the mouth for a prolonged amount of time reducing contact with sugar. Avoid sticky, chewy candies like gummy bears which are hard to brush off teeth.
